L’analisi della bottiglie recensite nel blog si basa sui principali caratteri organolettici di un whisky: l’aspetto, il naso, il palato ed il finale con le sensazioni retro-olfattive; completati da un giudizio globale.
- Analisi visiva: colore, limpidezza
- Analisi olfattiva: descrizione dell’intensità, finezza e varietà dei profumi e sentori rilasciati dal dram.
- Analisi gustativa: esaminiamo il corpo del whisky, la sua consistenza, le note e gli aromi che è possibile individuare.
- Finale e sensazioni retro olfattive: la persistenza dei sapori.
- Valutazione Globale: un giudizio complessivo del dram, dell’armonia tra i vari caratteri, della complessità e profondità dei sentori percepiti.
Al fine di raggiungere una maggiore completezza dell’analisi del distillato, per arrivare al compimento dell’assaggio riteniamo sia necessario assegnare un punteggio al prodotto degustato.
Ovviamente i voti sono soggettivi, giudizio personale dell’esperienza diretta della bottiglia presa in esame, delle sensazioni che ci ha trasmesso, dei sentori e delle note riscontrate. Senza peccare di presunzione riteniamo che attribuire con molta serenità un giudizio numerico in centesimi sia esclusivamente un metodo per parafrasare il manifestarsi in noi di quel turbinio di emozioni suscitate da distillato. Il punteggio in centesimi è la media dei singoli punteggi totalizzati nei singoli caratteri sensoriali cui si va ad aggiungere il punteggio assegnato nella valutazione globale. Tutti i voti sono poi accompagnati da un giudizio complessivo.

| 95 – 100 | il meglio del meglio del meglio; whisky eccellente, che racchiude in se i più alti valori nella realizzazione del distillato |

The reviews presented in this blog are based upon main organoleptic characteristics of a whisky: nose, palate and finishing, ending with a global judgment of the dram. More precisely, every review presents is structured as follows:
- Color, clearness;
- Olfactory analysis: description of the intensity, finesse and variety of scents emerging from the dram;
- Flavor analysis: exam of whisky’s body (that is, trying to find a parallel in order to explain how the whisky slides through the throat) and its consistency, with list of notes and scents coming from the meeting between the distillate and tongue.
- Finishing: identification of the most persistent notes;
- Global judgment: an overall evaluation of the dram, taking count of harmony between the different aspects and the complexity and intensity of the scents perceived.
Final grade of the distillate is the final part of the global judgment; this could appear exotic and worthless to some pure malters around the world, but consider this just an addition, a way to give more completeness to distillate’s analysis.
Obviously, the grade goes along with the global judgment and is strictly subjective; it is a direct consequence of the personal feelings experienced during the tasting, of the sensations spread by the pleasant and disappointing notes and scents that, for better or for worse, one can identify. So, our will to give a numerical grade is not a conceited behave but only a way to paraphrase the feelings and emotions aroused by the distillate. It is the summary of the grades bestowed to the various aspects listed before, that are nose, palate and finishing. Here is a brief description of what a grade is for us.
