N: Iniziamo con alcol, funghi e un accenno di gomma. Di seguito segnaliamo note di caffe e formaggio.
P: Beh, non è molto incisivo sebbene siano presenti tracce di torba, formaggio affumicato e ancora funghi. Anche in questa fase l’alcol è abbastanza vivace.
F: Breve, richiami di torba, pere e formaggio.
Malgrado l’affinamento il PX casks e Oloroso casks non riscontriamo una personalità interessante probabilmente dovuta alla giovane età (non dichiarata) del distillato.

N: Alcohol and mushrooms with a hint of gum. Then there are notes of coffee and cheese.
P: Well, not so impressive at all although there are traces of peat, smoked cheese and mushrooms again. Even in this phase the alcohol is vivid.
F: Quite short, peat, pears and cheese.
In spite of PX and Oloroso casks finishing we cannot define it as interesting as we have thought. Pheraps it needs to more time into that casks..

Glendronach 8 anni “The Hielan” (46%, OB, 2015)

C: Giallo paglierino.
N: Alcol, malto e pesche. C’è maggiore presenza di alcol che nelle varie versioni del 12 anni, di seguito note di pane e di burro salato.
P: Sapori di burro salato e pane appena sfornato, Inoltre la traccia di malto cresce sempre di più. Infine prugne e frutta bianca.
F: Finale medio, ancora pane e malto.
Ci piace per svariate ragioni, tra le quali: distacco dal paradigma del 12yo nelle sue versione sempre più o meno similari,i noltre apprezziamo questo genere di odori/sapori. Nota assolutamente positiva per il rapporto qualità-prezzo.

N: Alcohol, malt and peaches. There is more spirit than in a usual 12s yo, then notes of brad and salt butter.
P: Very interesting bread and salt butter flavours. On top of that, the malt trace get bigger than ever. Lastly prunes and white fruits.
F: Medium aftertaste, bread and malt again.
We have aprreciated it for several reasons: first of all it is so different by 12s yo version, then we usually love this kind of smells/flavours. Overall, excellent relation between result and price.

Glendronach 21 anni “Parliament” (48%, OB, 2011)
Versione Italiana:
C: Rame.
N: Esplosione di sherry e di legno (non accompagnata da quella forza a volte fastidiosa dovuta ad alte gradazioni alcoliche). Di seguito, pesche, chiodi di garofano e cioccolato bianco.
P: Ciliegie, legno e pesche sciroppate. Dopo qualche minuto siamo in grado si percepire il cioccolato bianco e i chiodi di garofano.
F: Abbastanza lungo, ciliegie, caffè e marmellata di pesche.
Un vero affare, grazie all’elevata età di invecchiamento in botte (con passaggio in una combinazione di PX e Oloroso), all’ottimo prezzo e alla bontà del prodotto.

N: Sherry and wood explosion. Even though it is not so strong like when an higher alcohol percentage increase the sherry perception. Then peaches, cloves, and white chocolate.
P: Cherries, wood and peaches. After few minutes we are able to taste the white chocolate and cloves.
F: Quite long, cherries, coffee and peaches marmalade.
It is a real deal. Awsome price, high aging (px and oloroso casks finishing) and a lot of sherry notes. What else? Damn, sure let’s go with our rate..

Glendronach 23 anni (53,9%, Cadenhead’s, 1990-2013)

C: Ambra.
N: Tabacco da pipa, aceto baslamico e vaniglia. Di seguito cannella e mele verdi, siamo sicuri sia un Glendronach??
P: Vaniglia, erica e gomma da masticare. Inoltre, olio d’oliva e burro salato.
F: Abbastanza corto, aceto balsamico, vaniglia ed erica.
Inusuale versione di un Glendronach single cask invecchiato in ex-bourbon Hogshead, non ci ha convinto affatto..

N: Pipe tobacco, balsamic vinegar and vanilla. Then cinnamon and green apples. Is it a glendronach??
P: Vanilla, heather and chewing gum. Furthermore, olive oli and salt butter.
F: Quite short, balsamic vinegar, vanilla and heather.
Unusually version of Glendronach single cask aged in ex-bourboun Hogshead, we did not like it so much. It is a bit strange.
