Springbank 10 anni (50%, OMC, 1995-2005)

C: Giallo paglierino.

N: Cera, liquirizia e tabacco da pipa. Poi prugne, mele verdi, pere e noci.

P: Sapori fruttati, pere e pesche. Di seguito pepe rosa, caffè e cannella.

F: Abbastanza corto, fruttato e speziato.

Un prodotto giovane che non ci ha convinto fino in fondo, manca di quel pizzico di carattere che di solito ci colpisce negli springbank ad alta gradazione.

English Version:

 

C: Straw yellow.

N: Wax, licorice and pipe tobacco. Then prunes, apples, pears, and walnuts.

P: Fruty flavours, pears and peaches again. Pink pepper, coffee and cinnamon in the last section.

F: Short, fruity and spicy.

We are not so hit by it even though we have to recognize that it is a young and quite decent whisky.

Springbank 15 anni(46%, OB, +/-2002)

C: Ambra.

N: Inizio inaspettatamente dolce e fruttato, pesche, caramello e mele gialle mature. Non riscontriamo il classico stile Springbank seppur qualche zaffata di alcol e cera viene fuori. Infine scorza di agrumi e cannella.

P: Coerente con il settore olfattivo, sapori delicati e dolci, pesche, succo di mela e zenzero, poi vaniglia e cocco.

F: Breve-medio retrogusti dolci e fruttati.

VOTO: 82,5/100

English version:

C: Amber.

N: Surprisingly a sweet and fruity start, peaches, caramel and yellow apples. Not so much “Springbank style”, otherwise a hint of alcohol and a bit of wax come out. Lastly citrus and cinnamon.

P: Coherent with smells the flavours are sweet and smoothly, again peaches, apple juice and ginger, then vanilla and coconut.

F: Short-medium aftertaste, fruity and sweet again.

It is not like we have hoped and even though we could not define it a bad dram we have different Springbank landmarks.

C: Oro.

N: Erbaceo e carbone, agrumato e speziato, ammettiamo essere binomi affascinanti. Di seguito percepiamo un cambiamento, gli aromi acquisiscono profondità, note minerali, fieno e una zaffata di torba. Sottofondo legnoso.

P: Legno bagnato, fieno e citronella. Poi, cioccolato, pepe rosa e miele.

F: Medio, legnoso, erbaceo e agrumato.

 

VOTO: 88,5/100

C: Gold.

N: Herbal and coal, citrusy and spicy, these binomials are fascinating. On top of that, it changes becoming more deep than ever, mineral, hay and peat. Woody background.

P: Wet wood, hay and lemongrass. Furthermore, we have noticed chocolate, pink pepper and honey.

F: Medium aftertaste, woody, herbal and citrusy.

Deep flavours and smells, complex though enjoyable.

Springabank 25 anni (46%, OB, 1960)

C: Vino bianco.

N: Decisamente chiuso all’inizio. Immaginiamo la lampada di Aladino pronta a deliziarci con incredibili doni. Inesorabili, eccoli arrivare: polvere da sparo, cera e quel particolare odore di chiesa tanto fedele a certi magnifici Clynelish/Brora. Pazientando annotiamo pere mature, rabarbaro e diverse spezie tra cui chiodi di garofano e cannella.

P: Nonostante la profondità resta abbastanza morbido, sono presenti sapori come pere mature sopra un velo di legno bruciato. Poi, come spesso ci capita di avvertire in vecchi malti molto invecchiati, arrivano le note di ottone e metallo in generale. Per chiudere, chiodi di garofano e pepe nero.

F: Abbastanza corto sebbene di una profondità avvolgente, fruttato e minerale.

Cosa potremmo dire? Dannatamente buono, complesso e profondo con richiami di antichi odori/sapori. Ci auguriamo di poter mettere le mani su un’altra bottiglia nel prossimo futuro, nel dubbio gli affibbiamo un bel..

C: White wine.

N: So closed at the beginning, it looks like the Aladino lamp ready to gift us incredible pleasures. Indeed they arrived: poor gun, wax and that particular church smell. Giving to it a bit of time to express yourself we have perceived overripe pear, rhubarb and a lot of spices like cloves and cinnamon.

P: It remains quite smooth, there are flavours of overripe pears and a background of burnt wood. Then as we used to recognize in a very old aged whisky the flavour of brass or something like that appears. Finally cloves and black pepper.

F: Quite short although it is deep and wraparound, fruity and mineral.

What do we say? It is damn good, complex and deep with recalls of ancient smells. We could not know whether it’ll be possible purchase another bottle in the future time.
