N: Dolce e avvolgente, la gianduia ti accarezza l’olfatto, muta poi in odori di frutta zuccherina quali la prugna, l’amarena e la mela cotta. Si vivacizza col profumo di zenzero e buccia di limone e smalto. Torna su sentori più pieni e corposi di legno, cuoio e cera con un ricordo di anice stellato.
P: Vivacino in bocca, lo zenzero e il pepe nero si fanno sentire subito. Mentre un pizzico di paprika solletica il palato ritorna ai sensi l’anice stellato che degrada in crema chantilly, zuppa inglese e frutta secca.
F: Nel retrofaringe ritroviamo la frutta secca e lo zenzero, ma anche cuoio e liquirizia a dare sostanza al finale.
Piacevoli sentori fruttati ma troppo limitati e limitanti nell’esperienza sensoriale. Rimanendo sempre ancorati alla vulgata romana “i sòrdi so sòrdi”, troviamo doveroso sottolineare tra i pregi di questo imbottigliamento il buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. N: Charming sweetness, with scent of gianduja brushing your nose, along with notes of sugary fruit like prune, black cherry and baked apple. Then, ginger, peel of lemon and glaze make it livelier. In its evolution, this dram shows some hefty scents as well as wood, leather and wax, together with a hint of star anise.
P: Some lively features (ginger and pepper) appear as soon as the first drop of this Glenfarclas reaches your tongue. Then, while a hint of paprika tickle your mouth, star anise comes back leaving the stage, as time goes by, to notes of chantilly cream and dried fruit.
F: Dried fruit and ginger again, well supported by leather and licorice.
Well, as we have to admit that fruity scents are enjoyable, their narrowness makes the experience of drinking this whisky not unforgettable. Anyway, as the common Roman expression “I sòrdi so sòrdi!” reminds us the importance of money, we end up noting that this 21 years old OB expression it is not unattainable. Satisfying, but limited dram.
